Invite to innovate: getting the uncorrupted to solve what leaders can't

Every industry is a forest: dense, established, corrupted by its own incentives. The people who can see clearly are the ones outside it. Extreme collaboration is how you invite them in — and reward them forever.

Picture an industry as a forest. Inside it: a lot of trees — established players, established processes, and leaders whose incentives (monetary, career, personal) are tied to the forest staying exactly as it is. Call it what it is: corrupted. Not morally, necessarily — structurally. The system rewards keeping the system.

Outside the forest stand the uncorrupted: students, gamers, career-switchers, experts from other fields. They have no stake in the old way of working, which is precisely why they can see it clearly. The most pressing challenges of our time won't be solved by asking the forest to redesign itself. They'll be solved by leaders doing one counterintuitive thing: inviting the uncorrupted in.

That is the invitation to innovate. Take a real problem from the ones having challenges — a construction site, a network, a hospital ward — and make it a part of reality that outsiders can touch: through digital twins, AR/VR, simulation, the tools of what some call web4, where the digital and physical are one continuous fabric.

The incentives write themselves. Solve problems up to 99% faster by reusing intelligence that already exists somewhere in the world and applying it to your problem. Get the best brains on the planet working on your challenge — not the best brains you happen to employ. And reward participation the way networks do: if someone else benefits from how you solved it, you get rewarded, forever. Gamification for change, not for engagement metrics.

This is also how education should work. Not curriculum first and reality maybe-later, but students working on live industry problems inside live twins — their Minecraft fluency becoming structural-engineering fluency, their solutions earning royalties instead of grades. We call the working method extreme collaboration: humans, agents and experts in one loop, all the time, around a shared model of reality.

The leaders' job, then, isn't to have the answers. It's to open the forest: pick the problem, build the twin, set the incentives — and invite.
